Cut from 100% organic cotton and hand printed using only azo-free dyes, Elsie is a full-length day dress with beautiful cotton lace inset panels and delicate pintuck detailing on the bodice and skirt. Shell buttons cut into the shape of a flower are used, adding the prettiest touch of whimsy to the look.

Care

Machine wash cold. Wash with like colours. Turn inside out when washing. Dry in shade. Do not tumble dry. Iron on reverse using low heat setting to smooth out any creases. Mist any creases with some water for easy ironing.

Darker colours, such as red, navy, and black, may release excess dye in the first few washes. This is completely normal. Please wash with care and avoid soaking. You may wish to use colour catcher sheets when laundering. Each piece has been carefully treated for colour fastness to help preserve both colour and print.

Elsie features delicate, flower-shaped shell buttons along one side. Please handle them with care when buttoning or unbuttoning, as natural shell is fragile by nature.

Hand Screen Printing

Stencils are used in screen printing, where the stencilled artwork is placed into a wooden frame and dyes are passed through the stencil and onto the fabric — a process that is completely done by hand. Each frame prints a section of the fabric and one colour is painted each time, this is done repeatedly until the pattern is completed. The pigment saturates the cloth to give a unique depth of colour which is controlled by the printer’s hands. We also rely on natural dyeing and drying methods when producing our fabrics.

Subtle variances in depth and irregularities in print and colour are natural characteristics of hand screen printing and the nature of a handmade process.

Textile — Junebug

Petite sprigs of daisy shaped flowers coloured in two complimentary shades of warm yellow fills the print with a sunny cheerful feel. The branches and stems are painted in a dark woody shade of brown, adding contrast to the motifs. Outlines in a deeper shade of ochre add soft dimension to the floral print and the scattered brown dots complete the print, lending a subtle vintage charm to Junebug.
