Conversations: On A Journey With Lauren

To discover Lauren & Lloyd’s beautifully curated home at Tiong Bahru is to wander through a visual feast of colours and intimate spaces that inspire. Insider their home, you'll find a collection of art pieces that bring life to every corner. Come along as Lauren gives us a tour of her home and shares with us her thoughts on creating an intentional life.

Hi Lauren, tell us a little about yourself

I’m someone who appreciates clutter, coffee, long breakfasts, harsh sunlight and a decent Happy Hour. Recently I’ve taken a strong liking to Lofi Jazz YouTube streams… and incredibly musky smelling scents.

What's the story behind your home?
There was no ‘ interior design style’ we aspired to achieve. I just thought about all the things I enjoy doing and created a space where I can do these things very comfortably. I’m messy by nature, so I needed my space to be able to incorporate clutter artfully. I love sunlight, so I knocked down more walls to get even more of it. If you look closely, my home is full of imperfections —uneven cement flooring, stained walls. I really quite like that.

What are some of your favourite pieces in your home right now?
My Casuarina tree - it's eccentric and elegant. My shelf, which feels like the heart and soul of our home. I also love my sofa, which feels luxuriously large. Great for sprawling.

We enjoyed your house tour so much, could you share your favourite spot with us?
The spot under the casuarina tree. At the right time of the day, say 5pm, I’d sit under its shade with a drink and a book. The shadows are beautiful and just for a minute you feel like you’re somewhere else.

Our campaign shares the story of a woman being on a journey of becoming and creating a life that is meaningful to her. Is there something you do to create a more intentional life?
I’m always distracted, and that’s probably the first thing that prevents you from living meaningfully and consciously. I try to immerse myself in small things that help me slow down and appreciate a moment — things that produce tangible outcomes, like pottery, painting, cooking, exercising. I do none of these things particularly well, but they are deeply fulfilling.

Do you have a favourite quote or song you want to share?
“I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, “If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.”

Wise words by Kurt Vonnegut.
